Vinyl Banners

Vinyl banners are one of the most popular signages used to advertise just about anything — suitable for enterprises of all sizes, nonprofit organizations, political campaigns, community events, and more. These banners are a reliable marketing material for both outdoor and indoor display. We offer three types of vinyl banners at UPrinting: the standard 13 oz. vinyl, the much thicker 18 oz. vinyl, and the 9 oz. mesh vinyl. All three options are durable, weather-proof, and long-lasting, but the mesh vinyl is highly recommended for windy areas.

5 Factors That Affect Banner Printing Cost

  1. Materials. Different substrates, that is the element where your ink will be printed on, vary depending on the type of material and its quality. As for vinyl, the thicker 18 oz. typically costs more than the standard 13 oz. because the former is more resilient and long-lasting. Quality is often tied to cost and this principle applies to ink. At UPrinting, we use premium-quality UV inks that don’t fade even when the banner is exposed to outdoor elements like sunlight, rain, and snow. We also supply our banners with durable metal stands so that you can reuse your banners over and over again.
  2. Accessories. Banners often require minimal assembly for you to set them up — this is where accessories come in. While you can order banners as is, you can also order installation accessories such as bungee cords, zip ties, suction cups, rope, or hanging clips to secure your banners and give them a unified look.
  3. Turnaround Time. Turnaround time refers to the period it takes to complete all facets of the job to produce your order. A faster turnaround time may be parallel to a rush job and may cost more than a regular timeline. UPrinting offers varied production timetables, with options for 1 or 3 business days.
  4. Labor Costs. Depending on the size of the printing company, it’s possible to be billed for additional preparations such hemming of the banner, addition of pole pockets, and placement of grommets. In some cases, services such as special packaging, proofreading, and designing may cost extra.
  5. Shipping and Handling. Printing companies typically establish base rates for specific timelines but like many businesses, rush shipping often costs more. Aside from the timeline, it’s recommended to check with your printer if they deliver to your state or location as shipping to some territories may require a higher fee.

8 Tips to Stay Within Your Banner Budget

  1. Decide on the right banner size. Determining the size of your banner is an essential first step as banner prices tend to go up the bigger the size gets. Besides your budget, consider the site where you’ll install it and if there are any rules on banner sizes in your chosen location. Your target audience is important, too. If you want to cast a wider net and have people to see your banner from a distance, you might want to go for a bigger signage but if you’d rather they come near it, a small or medium-sized banner might just work.
  2. Optimize your design and layout. If you can fit everything in the banner layout without compromising readability and style, you can consider using a smaller banner or a size that’s less expensive. Write a clear headline and message when designing your banner and remember to add a call to action and contact details. Keep your design uncluttered by adding only the necessary images such as logos or product photos.
  3. Use free design tools and design templates. You don’t need to start from scratch; we got you. When you order your banners from UPrinting, you get access to our online design tool and design templates free of charge. You can simply upload your logo and images to the site, add text, change up the colors, and submit your work for printing.
  4. Consider the less expensive material. If you’re planning to put up your banner indefinitely, it may be worth going for the 18 oz. vinyl; while it does cost more, its durability can save you more money in the long run since you won’t have to replace it. Otherwise, go for the standard 13 oz. vinyl, especially if you’re going to run your ads for a couple of years or less.
  5. Check your work thoroughly. Mistakes are expensive especially if it means reprinting. Before submitting your design, take the time to proofread it and triple-check it. You can also have a friend go over your work to ensure that it’s readable and free from errors.
  6. Order in bulk. If you’re planning to print several banners, ask your printer if you can get a quantity discount. Most printers can give customers a better rate when they order a minimum number of banners.
  7. Partner with fellow exhibitors. It’s common for small to medium-sized business owners to participate in bazaars and trade shows. As these events usually last between a few days and a couple of months, it may be worth splitting the cost with a fellow exhibitor, specifically you’re sharing a booth with. You can design a banner that features both your brands and details and display it at your table; not only does it save you money, but it also saves you time on clean-up.
  8. Choose longer turnaround times. Faster turnaround times tend to cost more so it’s recommended that you plan your banner ahead the same way you would your other marketing materials. This way, you can design and order your banner and skip the rush shipping fees.
