Proper Care and Maintenance
After each outing, make sure to clean your boat lettering with water and a non-abrasive cloth. Avoid using any strong cleaners or power washers, as this could damage the lettering. We don’t advise using power buffers either, as the boat lettering could come off when you’re applying wax or polish.

Boat Lettering FAQs
The characters must be at least three inches (3”) in height. For boat registration numbers, the characters must be in block style. For hailing port identification, the letters need not be in block style, but the height should be at least four inches (4”). For more information on boat lettering requirements, we recommend checking local regulations on proper boat documentation.
Registration numbers must be displayed on the forward half of the boat, above the waterline. These should be displayed on both port and starboard sides. Make sure that the color of the letters and numbers are in contrast with the color of the boat. For guidance, please refer to your state and local regulations.
Your boat must be properly registered, as required of all motorized vehicles. Just as you wouldn’t drive a car without a license, you need to have your boat registered with the relevant authorities. With a boat registration number, port and government authorities can easily identify your vessel while navigating federal waters.
