Custom Labels call attention to your business

What makes a label fun and effective? What it boils down to for most people is the customization of the design. With custom label printing, you can create labels that will drive a positive impression and instant brand recognition. Labels easily promote your business as part of your product packaging, whether used for mailing as custom address labels or as custom wine labels. They also play an important role in event organizers that need to print personalized labels for weddings and other events.

What’s the Difference Between Labels and Stickers?

Labels and stickers are often used interchangeably to refer to a piece of sticky graphic. Although both share some qualities (e.g., materials, adhesives, shapes, etc.), stickers and labels differ on how they are used:

Labels

Labels are often used for brand identification and for providing information. They can be used on product packaging and shipping boxes but can also be used for personal items. Label size is usually determined by the surface where they will be used. For example, a 3” x 3” round label could go on a mason jar or on a water bottle.

Stickers

Stickers are typically printed to promote a brand or cause. In offline marketing, stickers serve as a seal of approval or thumbs up from customers when used. Stickers can be inserted in packages, handed out to customers, and given as a freebie with every purchase.

When to Use Singles and Roll Labels

At UPrinting, you can print singles (formerly known as cut-to-size) or roll labels. Singles are individually cut in your chosen shape and are suitable for labeling specialty products and gifts. Our wide size range lets you print labels as small as 1.5” x 2.5” to as big as 8.5” x 11”. You can print these on two types of materials:

Roll Label Materials

Roll labels are the more practical choice for those who need to label products in bulk manually or using a dispenser. They’re easier to peel but also fit in most label dispensers for fast and easy application. You can adjust the label’s design according to our custom sizes and die-cutting options.

* Writable with permanent ink markers given sufficient drying time.

Both singles and roll materials come in a matte, gloss, or high-gloss finish. Matte offers a rustic and organic look, while gloss and high-gloss surfaces let the colors pop. Both matte and gloss are applied on labels found on products displayed indoors.

Are All the Labels Writable?

Need to add notes and other information to your labels? Here is a list of materials that you can write on.

  • 70 lb. label matte can be written on with a permanent marker. This material is ideal for adding best-by dates by hand.
  • 70 lb. label high-gloss UV has an extra smooth surface that is only writable with a permanent marker only. We recommend letting the ink dry completely before handling to avoid smudges.
  • Textured estate?labels (white vellum, white laid, and cream laid) are writable when uncoated. Use both pens and permanent markers to personalize your labels.
  • 4 mil. white vinyl high-gloss UV has a shiny surface that allows only permanent markers for writing. Make sure to have ample drying time before use.

How to Peel Off Labels

Labels come with a protective backing that prevents the adhesive from losing its stickiness. Sometimes, peeling off labels can create unsightly creases on the product. Here are some tips on how you can peel and apply labels:

Singles Labels

These labels have two panels that you need to bend and peel to reveal the adhesive. Here’s a short video demonstrating the correct way of removing the backing from singles labels:

Kiss-Cut Labels

Kiss-cut labels have a large backing that is not trimmed to the shape of the label. To remove the labels, gently lift one side and slowly pull the rest to avoid creasing.

Sheet Labels

These labels come with one large backing. Carefully separate the labels from the backing with your finger. Look for the outline on the backing to see where you can lift off the label.

Roll Labels

The easiest to peel off, roll labels can be peeled off by just lifting a corner from the backing. Slowly pull the label away from the backing. If you need to, move to another corner and peel to prevent wrinkling.

Q:
Which label is best for 5 oz hot sauce bottles?
Asked 16 days ago by EJ
A:

If you feel the sticker is likely to get some of the sauce on it, it would be best to get the White Vinyl High Gloss as this is waterproof and any spillage could easily be wiped off. If not then the 70 lb paper would be ok. Please note that since the 70 lb is a paper stock, this could smudge or deteriorate if stained or refrigerated.

Q:
How many rolls would a pack of 2000 4-inch circular labels come with? How easy are these to peel by hand?
Asked 17 days ago by Claudio C.
A:

The number of labels per roll is dictated by production factors and how the pressman manages the existing printing runs.If you wish to specify how many labels you need per roll, please give us a call so we can have production follow these additional specifications. There will be a small set up fee for this service. It is not difficult to manually peel off the labels from the wax paper backing. If you have time, please order our free Standard Offset Sample kit which will include some roll label samples.

Q:
Looking for 4.75" X 1.50" custom labels to be made. Need 325 labels. Have artwork completed. I do not see this size as an option. Can you help??
Asked 3 months ago by Logan F.
A:

It can be done. However, it will need to be custom as the size is below our cutting minimum. Please create an account online and give us a call to speak to a Custom representative who will send you a quote.

Q:
Looking for a label to be made for our packaged products that contain a button battery. I need a sample to start with to see if itll work on our boxes and then would order more in the future. Could you please assist with recommendations? I have an image
Asked 3 months ago by Danielle
A:

We offer different kind of labels to adapt to how it will be used. The regular labels made of Paper Stock are normally used for packaging items that do not get wet or exposed to the elements.  These are the 70 lb Matte or Gloss stocks. You can also check out our vinyl labels which are more durable and designed for more flexible applicatons.  Please order our Free Standard Offset Sample Kit. These contain all the regular stocks we use for labels and other marketing materials such as brochures and business cards.

Q:
What is the diameter of the roll of stickers? Does the diameter of the roll change when ordering different counts, quantity or size?
Asked 4 months ago by Emily V.
A:

The total diameter of the roll will change depending on the quantity you order as well as the size of the sticker. However, the core of the roll will already be 3". You may also request for a certain number of your stickers to be on one roll.  This will entail a small set up fee per roll. You would need to add the job to cart (do not check out yet) and give us a call to speak to a Custom Representative who will set up the instructions for production and create an unpaid invoice for your review.
