Make sure your deliveries get to their destination safely and securely with custom rigid mailers. Ship art materials, photographs, and documents with the assurance and confidence that your package is protected from damage throughout the journey. Rigid mailers come in two styles: catalog and booklet. Each mailer has a self-sealing strip and an easy-tear tab for effortless access. Choose from three different sizes and paper types that fit your needs best.

Catalog or booklet? You can choose between these two styles of rigid mailers depending on what suits your needs. Catalog mailers have the opening and the flap on the shorter side while booklet envelopes have them on the longer part. Each style comes with a specific size option:
- 10” x 13” Booklet Style fits a 9” x 12” presentation folder.
- 9” x 11.5” Catalog Style fits an 8.5” x 11” product catalog/booklet.
- 7” x 9” Catalog Style fits 4” x 6” and 5" x 7" photos, greeting cards, DVDs, and other smaller items.
How are Rigid Mailers Best Used?
When sending documents and sensitive material, you need all the protection you can get. Custom rigid mailers securely seal your packages and ensure a safe delivery to its destination.
Here are a few guidelines to follow to get the most out of your rigid mailers:
Get the right size. It’s tempting to order the biggest size for the extra space but with rigid mailers, you want a snug fit to minimize movement and friction during shipping and handling.
Choose between 14 pt. or 16 pt. Cardstock for your rigid mailers. 14 pt. Cardstock is our most popular material for mailers and is perfect for bulk printing. The 16 pt. is slightly thicker, more durable, and offers a more premium touch. Three types of finishes are available for rigid mailers. The lamination is on the outside while the inside is uncoated.
- Gloss reflects light and gives the material a brilliant sheen that makes vivid colors pop.
- Matte gives your rigid mailers’ colors a more subdued but elegant look. Its non-glossy surface provides better writability.
- High Gloss (UV) is UV-coated on the front. The UV coating gives it a glossy shine that protects the surface from scratches and scuffs.
Design with the recipient in mind. Rigid mailers are printed in full color on one side and have an easy-tear tab on the other. Ensure a fuss-free experience for the recipient. The easy-tear tab lets you smoothly open and accesses the documents right away – no need to tear several flaps or flip the contents.

Rigid mailers are considered large envelopes if they meet the maximum size of 15” x 12” x ¾” thick. Any large envelope that goes above 13 ounces is considered a Priority Mail Item. Refer to the USPS First-Class Mail Fact Sheet for more information.
All rigid mailers come with a self-sealing strip and a tab that’s easy to tear.
Gloss or high gloss are recommended for designs that need protection from frequent handling.
Matte is the best choice for mailers that need to be readable and easy on the eyes. It provides the least glare from all the laminations available.

We would not recommend an exact fit on one side as this could damage your document.
We could do a custom size to give it some extra space, however, this would entail a specific set up cost. if you are interested, please create an account and give us a call to speak to a Custom Representative.
There is no requirement for the orientation as we would print it the way your design is laid out. The position of the opeining is constant so this will also allow the end user to turn the mailer sideways and view the artwork accordingly. There is an option for bigger width (13" x 10") where the opening is on the wider side which would tend to point to a landscape.
Yes, you are correct. The flap on the back side of the Mailer is inside so you can put artwork on the whole page at the back except for the part that will be covered by the envelope flap. If you can order a free sample kit, we actually use these Rigid Mailers to contain all our sample products and paper stocks.
The Rigid Mailers come flat, just as you see on the image. There is no assemply and you just need to unpeal the strip of double sided tape to seal in the contents.
If you are referring to our Mailer Boxes, these actually also come flat and will require assembly but we do include a set of instructions on how to do this.
Since this is a specific size outside the standard offering, it would be better to call and coordinate with our custom department to see if this would be cheaper. Also, if it isnt critical in terms of the content of your mailer, please check out our Poly Mailers as this also reduces postage costs.
